A quick review of the rules and regulations of parking at Mississippi State University

  • If you sell your car, you will need to get your permit off of your car. You will bring in the old permit and we will exchange it for you for $2.
  • If your vehicle breaks down in an illegal parking area, contact parking services at 325-2661 to avoid citations. After hours, contact MSU Police Department at 325-2121.
  • If you feel you received a citation that you did not deserve, you can appeal the citation at 112 Lee Hall.
  • We also provide motorist assistance for low tires and dead batteries during normal operating hours. If you need assistance please contact our office for additional information.

  • Visitor permits are required of all who visit campus unless metered parking is used. These may be acquired at Parking Services.

Important Facts to remember about MSU Parking

  • If you have any parking questions or concerns contact Parking Services at 325-2661 or email us at Parkingservices@facilities.msstate.edu. You can also come by our office, located on East Lee Blvd next to Burger King
  • All Vehicles parked on MSU campus, day or night, must have a current MSU permit displayed on Vehicle. This includes students, staff, visitors, vendors, rental and temporary vehicles.
  • Staff/Student permits can be registered online at mybanner.msstate.edu
  • You may only purchase one permit online. Please visit our office for other request.
  • You must abide by all MSU parking rules and regulations while you are parked on campus. www.msstate.edu/dept/audit/91307.html
  • If your permit is lost or stolen, it is your responsibility to report this to the Parking Office and obtain a new permit as soon as possible.
  • Students must park in their correct zones between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. After 3 PM, commuters are allowed to park in any commuter zone. After 5:00 PM, students can park in staff but must be back in their zone by 7:00 AM.
  • Signs are located near the entrance of each parking zone. The parking map also has each zone clearly marked.
  • If someone else drives your vehicle, you are responsible for any citations issued to the vehicle.
  • Vehicles that are unregistered or have unpaid citations may be wheel-locked.

Appealing a Citation

  1. Go to 112 Lee Hall and pick up an appeals form. Be sure you have your ticket with you, we will need to attach this to your form along with any documentation you may wish to present for your case.
  2. Once you have filled out the form you will get a chance to tell the board your case.
  3. When you have finished your appeal, the board will discuss your case and make a decision.

You will then be contacted with the board’s decision via email.
